On Aug 8, the new President of Beijing Wuzi University Liu Jun has leaded their colleagues of institute office to visit Shenzhen Chaowei Industry Co., Ltd. which was found by Chen Mang, who is their alumnus on 1985.
Beijing Wuzi University is located in Beijing, the capital of China. It is a full-time public institution of higher learning featuring logistics and circulation, based on economics, focusing on management, and coordinated development of economics, management, science, engineering, humanities and law.
The new president Liu Jun is a PHD who’s focused on the analysis and integration of network information systems. And he has participated in a number of national key projects in the field of railway science and obtained fruitful scientific research results during he taught at Beijing Jiaotong University.
Chaowei Industry Co., Ltd. is specializing in the application of off-line speech recognition and control technology in the Internet of Things industry, especially in the field of smart home. Chaowei is a deep strategic partner of the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Chaowei is also the authorized National high-tech enterprise and Shenzhen high-tech enterprise, which have more than 300 invention patents and utility model patents. On November 23, 2019, the <Technical standard for Off-line Chinese Speech Recognition Control Module for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances> was successfully approved by the National Expert Committee as the national technical standard. It filed the gap of speech recognition standard for this industry. And Chen Mang is the monitor of this technical standard editing group.
During the conversation, Liu Jun asked Chen Mang to understand the process of invention patent in detail. After Chen Mang introduced several cases to him, he said, "I used to specialize in electronic technology, but I never thought you could make the most of the innovative application of electronic technology. You are really an Edison-like talent."
President Liu talked about his views on the current educational status of higher education. He believed that every university should have a clear orientation for itself. Some universities should train Einstein-type talents, such as Peking University, while others should train Edison-type talents, such as Beijing Wuzi University.
President Liu said that he was well aware that today's college education is not down-to-earth, and that the students trained have poor practical ability and it is difficult to find a job. In the other hand the enterprise are short of talent who is competent for a position and get to work quickly. So he comes out an idea to try out the dual tutor education system in Beijing Wuzi University. It means the outstanding alumni will be hired to be the social tutor to make up the shortage formal university education. It can help the students’ learn the knowledge what they cannot learn from school and also help them to adapt the society. Make them more confidence after graduation.
At that afternoon, Chen Mang and other 5 outstanding alumni were received the letter of appointment from Beijing Wuzi University. He feel honored for this new title and he confirmed will try his best to serve the younger alumni and make contribution for the enterprises which eager to hire the versatile talents.
